Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
